This stone was one of two sculptures that came from a larger stone that had an awkward crack and had to be split apart. When I first saw this piece of stone, I was unsure what to do with it, but couldn’t bear the thought of letting such a beautiful stone go to waste, so I just set it aside. It wasn’t until I dropped something on the floor and caught a glimpse of this stone which looked a bit like a crescent moon. That is when I started working through a way for an observer to experience the phases of the moon.
